Proverbs 23:7 say "...For as he thinks within himself, so he is...". This wonderful sections of Scripture reveals a truth that can have a very profound effect in the life of anyone. It is the key that unlocks the daily influence those around us can have and it is the tipping point that actually directs the path of our destiny. We can't control what others think or say but we can control what we do. It is clear that harnessing the power of our inner thought life is the difference between accomplishing great things for God or living a life of frustrations in the dark shadow of unrealized possibilities.

Imagine how different life would be for all of us if Henry Ford had listened to Thomas Edison who was negative about the idea of a motorcar. He advised Ford to give it up and "do something really worthwhile". Imagine if Benjamin Franklin had listened to the experts of his day to "forget about these foolish experiments with lightening". The influence of negative people and negative attitudes has been a killer since the beginning of time. Those who have listened to these voices have ended up derailed in a life of personal mediocrity.

The Flying Wallenda's suffered a great tragedy a number of years ago. This world famous high wire act had thrilled circus goes with death defying acrobatics for many years. However, during one performance in Detroit, Michigan several of them fell to their deaths before a horrified audience. When asked by a reporter about what the family would do now, the senior member of the family, Karl Wallenda, spoke words that were filled with prophetic significance. These words are the cry of everyone who refuses to let failure define their earthly existence. They are the godly hope that rises above negative circumstances and looks for a heavenly invasion into the circumstance. Wallenda said; "What will we do now? We will be back on the high wire tomorrow night! Life is on the high wire. All else is waiting in the wings!"

Karl Wallenda's words are the cry of my heart and I pray it is yours as well. I for one refuse to accept any other existence but one that is poised and balance for greatness on the high wire of life. Such is the life of all who will live authentic Christianity. It moves us from our natural comfort zone and sense of personal security into the supernatural zone with God. When we live a high wire life it means there is spiritual risk that makes us uncomfortable. It means that we are launched well above this earthly plain and must trust that God is really there to catch us, lest we fall to our death. It means we must believe that the strength of "Another" is present to accomplish what would be impossible for us to do on our own. This is how we walk in the realm of genuine faith that pleases God. 

High risk .. high touch .. high involvement .. high wire! Any other life is not the life God intended. There is greatness in us that is waiting to get out. For it to be released we must have an attitude check.  No wonder Paul wrote the following in Philippians  4:8 "Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things." May God fill your heart and mind so that you can see with new eyes, hear with new ears and step on the high wire of life with an attitude that reflects the reality of heaven as it invades earth.
